It will be the world first automated and contactless laser acoustics spot weld in-line inspection system.
A consortium formed by Xarion Laser Acoustics GmbH, Institute of Electrical Measurement and Sensor Systems, and Innerspec Technologies Europe S.L. is working to develop a novel, non-destructive, and automated ultrasonic inspection system, based on the latest optical microphone technology, for in-line detection and characterization of spot weld defects. Innerspec will be responsible for developing the demonstrator to the highest standards, easing the transition from prototype to commercial product.
