Researcher Kaleeswaran Balasubramaniam, a member of Innerspec’s R&D team, will deliver a presentation titled “RevolutionizingResidual Stress Analysis in Steel: Integrating EMAT Nonlinear Ultrasonics with XRD and Coercivity for Superior Insights” at the online conference Young Science Beyond Borders at 11:15 AM on Thursday, October 24th. Registration can be completed online until October 14th by following this link.
The presentation will showcase the outcomes of the STEELAR Project for the analysis of residual stress in steel components. The YSBB conference, organized by the Academy of Young Scientists of the Polish Academy of Sciences, is intended to create a discussion forum for Early and Mid-CareerResearchers (EMCRs) up to 12 years post-PhD in an online format to broaden the conference's reach.
The STEELAR project has been funded by the European Commission under the Research Fund for Coal and Steel (RFCS) Programme. The project features a groundbreaking non-destructive testing solution based on Ultrasonic EMAT technology. This innovation measures residual stress levels in steel components, providing critical decision-support information to manufacturers. By ensuring product quality and safety, the technology helps minimize production downtime and maintenance costs, enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability.
STEELAR is aimed at two end-users with aligned needs: steel manufacturers, which use rolls to produce steel products, and roll manufacturers, which produces the actual milling rolls. The technology will also expand to other sectors. This presentation will enhance the STEELAR project’s scope by highlighting the outcomes and capabilities developed through the project.
